Old Mt. Mercy Convent

"In the Fall of 1902 Reverend Mother Mary Dolores secured an option on the Rufus P. Choate estate in the city of Buffalo at the junction of Red Jacket Parkway and Abbott Road opposite Cazenovia Park. The title search, which goes back to September 12, 1810, reveals that this  property originally formed part of the Buffalo Creek Reservation of the Seneca Nation of Indians.... On November 26, 1902, a few Sisters occupied this new home, which they designated as Mount Mercy of Our Lady of Victory, the latter part of the title having been added at the suggestion of Reverend Nelson H. Baker."
