Message from the Director

Welcome, everyone, to the Libraries at Trocaire

johns-flower-girl
We have over 17,000 excellent resources that you’ll find in print: books, journals and magazines; in audiovisual format, and electronically as ebooks, through proprietary electronic databases and from our webpage. We provide high quality resources and services; we have the information experts - - librarians - - to help with your research needs. We have comfortable chairs and sofas, providing a pleasant place to study, do research or just spend some casual free time. The Libraries are located at the main campus on Choate Avenue (Savarino Library) and in the Student Resource Room for the RJS School of Hospitality / Business (current location: Sacred Heart School in Bowmansville).

Each location has Internet-accessible computer workstations available for educational research, with wireless access at the Choate Avenue location; there are currently two PC stations in the Savarino Library for the physically impaired. The Libraries serve the Trocaire College community, the Sisters of Mercy, students from other educational institutions and community members within the Western New York area. The Libraries have initiated chat reference support; access here.

In implementing the Libraries’ mission - - to ensure students, faculty and staff are effective users of ideas and information - - there are regularly scheduled library instruction sessions, co-teaching with faculty, two general studies classes in Information Literacy, as well as individual instruction sessions for students and faculty.

As a member of the Western New York Library Resources Council (WNYLRC), library users have access to resources held by the public, medical, industrial and other academic member libraries and library systems in the six counties of Western New York ( Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus). Borrowing is made possible through an interlibrary loan (ILL) network at no cost to the college community.

Enjoy your stay!
