Instead of a paper copy of the Journal or
Magazine to keep on the shelf, the publisher lets
us connect to their Database and read the Journal or Magazine articles found
online for a
subscription fee. Yes, we do connect through the Internet, but we have to have a
subscription
to access the resources found in the publishers' Databases and we pay for
this service.
In addition to Journal and Magazine articles, Databases may also contain
Encyclopedias,
Newspapers or other sources of reputable information that we decide to subscribe
to.
Remember to select "Full-text" from the search screen. Choose "Peer
Reviewed" if you
want a professional journal article. Some Databases do NOT contain "Full-text"
articles but
only citations (Title, Author, Publisher). If this happens you may need to get
the article from
a print source. Ask a Librarian for help.
