Community Use Policy
Community Users are members of the community who are not students, faculty, or staff at Trocaire College and Trocaire College alumni are welcome to use the Libraries@Trocaire.
- To check out books and other materials, a community user will need to get a library card from Trocaire College.
- To use the computers, a community user will need a Trocaire library card and a Network User ID from the Information Technology Office at Trocaire College.
To receive a Library Card
Community users must renew their library cards annually starting July 1st. All cards expire on July 1st of each year, regardless of issue date. Cards can be renewed by coming in to speak to a librarian and paying the annual fee.
To receive a Network User ID
The library card is needed when obtaining a Network User ID. This card can also be used to check out books, videos, etc. from the RRS Library.
Community users must obtain a community user library card (and pay the annual fee) before they can receive a Network User ID.
With a Trocaire College community user library card, community users can fill out a “Request for Network Identity” form. Librarians will provide and authenticate this form upon request. The form will then be given to the community user, who is responsible for delivering it to the Information Technology Office.
IT will issue a user name and password to the community user. These credentials allow community users and alumni to log on to a computer on campus and to access the library’s collection of databases, e-books, and other electronic content.
Cost for Network User ID: $0. (While there is no cost for Network User ID from IT, there is an annual cost of $15 for a non-alumni community user to obtain the required library card.)
Notes:
Community users must renew their Network User ID annually along with their Community User library card. The Network User ID also expires on July 1st, regardless of when it was issued.
The “Request for Network Identity” form must be filled out each time; to renew, community users should come in to the library to speak with a librarian who will renew their library card, collect the annual fee, and then authenticate a new form. The community user will have to deliver this form to the IT Office for the Network User ID to be reactivated.
NOTE: Community users do not have off campus access to Databases.
