Loan Periods
The Trocaire College Libraries have a collection of books, DVDs and print journals. Loan periods vary based on the type of material you check out. To find out if the library owns an item check our Library Catalog.

Textbooks
Does the library own a copy of the textbook for my class?
The Trocaire College Libraries have a Reserve Collection of the textbooks, in print or eBook format, for many of the courses taught at the college. However, some may be an older edition of the textbook that your professor has assigned you. A few textbooks are also available as eBooks. The eBooks may be read using your Trocaire UN/PW. The eBooks cannot be checked out but you may be able to print or save pages depending on the book publisher.
Please note that the libraries do not own ALL textbooks used here at the college.
To check out a printed textbook, stop at the main desk. A current Trocaire ID card is required to check out the textbook. A photocopy of the front and back of your Trocaire ID card is the only accepted substitution.
The textbook may only be used in the library. Read the Borrower’s Responsibilities to find out more.
Find out if an item is on Course Reserve check our Reserve Collection Guide.

Where can I get books (and other materials) that are not available at the Trocaire College Libraries?
There are two ways to get books:
- Through AcademicSHARE, current Trocaire faculty and students with a Trocaire ID card can borrow materials from participating college libraries in the Western New York area. Remember, any item borrowed from another library is subject to that library’s policies. Community users and alumni are not eligible for AcademicSHARE.
- You can also request books through Interlibrary Loan. A librarian will work to find the books you need and have them shipped to the library for you to pick up. It takes at least 7-10 business days for books to arrive at the library via USPS.
